Fairy Tales
We concluded our fairy tale unit today:( I must say that I REALLY enjoyed these last 2 weeks. We had some great lessons and just a bunch of FUN! One of my favorite new finds (I'm sure you've already heard of her) is Ms. Booksy! My students loved her! If you haven't seen any of her fairy tale stories on you tube, then check out one of my favorites below.

Spring is in the Air!
Well, spring break has been wonderful, but back to work it is. You know, the sooner we start back, the sooner we're out for SUMMER! I have noticed that some of my best sellers on TPT are the activities that also include a Smartboard version as well. So, I've placed my focus of my spring bundle to include a center or small group game/activity with a Smartboard version of the activity, along with worksheets that all coincide with one another. I must say this has been one of the most fun bundles to make. PLUS....it's Easter, so you know there's so many cute accessories at the dollar stores to use with your center games! Here's just a sneak peak at one of the activities.
How cute are those carrot eggs that I found at Dollar Tree? Well, that's just one of the activities that this bundle will include. Look for the bundle to come out within the next week! Be sure to follow my blog or store to receive notifications of new and free products :)

The Three Little Pigs
We have had so much fun with the 3 Little Pigs this week! We've read several versions and if you have not read "The Little Three Gators" by Helen Ketteman
or "Wait! No Paint!" by Bruce Whatley,
you are missing out! My class LOVED these! The "Wait! No Paint!" is perfect to introduce or refresh illustrators to your student.
Another absolutely awesome thing we did was incorporate some science and art into this theme. Our science concept was wind and the book "I Face the Wind" by Vicki Cobb.
It was perfect for introducing this theme to Kinders. I heard them later talking about air molecules!!!
I found the art activity at SprinklestoKindergarten. You can find the printable @ http://teacherweb.com/TX/Copperfield/MrsCrowder/Three-Little-Pigs.pdf.My teacher assistant took on our art activity in small groups this week. She had them retell the story of the original Three Little Pigs and they used straws, crinkle paper, popsicle sticks, and red legos as props to "blow" as the big bad wolf. They then made an awesome art picture by blowing their paint with their straws.

Dr. Seuss Freebie
I just love Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Week! We've had so much fun these last two weeks. Today was "Horton Hears a Who" - watched the video and then did a "text talk". I've always taught vocabulary and used think alouds during stories but never actually formatted it like this before. This format was modeled by other Kindergarten teachers in our district, so I thought I'd give it a try.....my students really enjoyed it. (of course adding the sound files really helped) Fun! Enjoy this free Smartboard file Here!
